MOREHEAD, Ky. — Two Morehead firefighters were hospitalized after suffering separate medical emergencies while on a call.

Crews immediately turned their attention to Cooper, calling for a second ambulance and rushing him to UK St. Claire Hospital. Doctors placed him in a medically induced coma and admitted him to the ICU.

Soon after arriving at the hospital with Cooper, Assistant Fire Chief John Northcutt began having chest pains. Doctors found a blockage, admitted him for treatment, and say he is stable and could be released within a day or two.

As of Sept. 5, Fire Chief Jeff Anderson said Cooper was in critical but stable condition.

There was no report on the condition of the patient from the original call.
