4th NY firefighter suspended for missing dept. money

The volunteer firefighters may be connected to a ‘substantial’ amount of missing money donated to the department

HUDSON, N.Y. — A fourth N.Y. volunteer firefighter has been suspended and is under criminal investigation after several thousand dollars have been found missing from the fire company.

The volunteer firefighter and three others are reportedly connected to an unknown missing amount of money from the fundraising and donations accounts at C.H. Evans Ladder Company No. 3, according to the Times Union.

Hudson city Mayor Bill Hallenback said that the amount is “substantial.”

The fourth suspension comes after three other volunteers were suspended last week. None of those involved have been identified.

All accounts at the department have been frozen while police investigate the matter.
