LOGAN, Idaho — Kyle B. Lindsay, who resigned as Logan’s fire chief amid a criminal probe, faces two additional felony counts, based on amended charges filed Thursday.

Lindsay, 41, had been charged with felony counts of burglary, possession of a controlled substance and obtaining a prescription drug under false pretenses. He now faces one additional count each of possession of a controlled substance and obtaining a prescription drug under false pretenses.

The previous drug charges stem from incidents that occurred July 16, while the new charges cite July 28. The burglary happened on Aug. 1, according to charging documents.

Police and prosecutors have refused to reveal the circumstances surrounding the charges, and records requests for police reports filed by The Tribune under the Government Records and Management Act have been denied.

Lindsay resigned from Logan’s top fire post on Aug. 5, the same day that police in neighboring Smithfield announced they were completing a criminal theft investigation.

He had been on the job less than two months, having replaced outgoing Fire Chief Mark Meaker effective June 15. Meaker had announced his retirement in March.

Lindsay, formerly of Blackfoot, Idaho, came to Logan’s top fire executive post from a job as a flight paramedic with Air Idaho/Omniflight. Prior to that, he had worked from 1995 to 2008 as a lieutenant and paramedic with the Blackfoot Fire Department. He also had served as a Bingham County, Idaho, coroner from 2002 to 2010.

Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Peterson was sworn in as interim fire chief after Lindsay stepped down.
