MAPLE SHADE, N.J. — The former deputy chief of the township Fire Department was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly using the department’s credit card to make cash withdrawals of nearly $2,000 for personal use.
Ryan M. Callahan, 29, of West Woodlawn Avenue, was charged with theft, but no bail was set and he was released on his own recognizance, authorities said. The matter has been forwarded to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
Callahan allegedly used the credit card to obtain about $1,700 in cash between September 2012 and May 2013 while he was deputy chief, according to township police Lt. Jeffrey Hoch.
