GREEN BAY, Wisc. — After more than a year and a half of discussions, officials are getting the go-ahead to further pursue a proposed fire department merger between Allouez and Green Bay.
The Green Bay City Council last week approved the city’s half of the merger contract, pending the Allouez Village Board’s approval of its share.
“The contract was approved (Tuesday) night, and that was a big step because it tells us to get moving on the other parts of it,” said interim Green Bay fire Chief Mike Nieft.
