NEW YORK — FDNY Chief Robert Sweeney — who led many of the city’s firefighters to New Orleans to help out after Hurricane Katrina — was promoted yesterday to run the department’s day-to-day operations.
The promotion makes him New York’s second-highest-ranked uniformed firefighter.
Also promoted were Chiefs Robert Boyce, James Manahan, William Seelig and Joseph Woznica.
