GRANDVIEW, Pa. — A Grandview volunteer firefighter admitted forging more than $2,500 in checks from the department’s relief association account, according to a criminal complaint Penn Township police filed last week.
Daniel J. Walker, 27, of 160 Kifer Hill Road, Hempfield, was charged with forgery, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
Police said Walker, who was in charge of managing the department’s funds, forged the signature of one of the department’s officers. The checks required one other signature besides Walker’s.
Walker cashed nine checks for a total of $2,588.70, police said.
He is free on $5,000 unsecured bond while awaiting a Feb. 8 preliminary hearing before Harrison City District Judge Helen Kistler.
