PITTSBURGH (AP) — A Pittsburgh firefighter has been jailed on charges he tried to rob a convenience store with a gun, which he allegedly left behind after a clerk fought him off. Online court records don’t list an attorney for 31-year-old Joseph Caimi, who remained jailed Thursday after his arrest Wednesday night.
City police say he tried to rob a Uni-Mart store, but a clerk grabbed Caimi’s gun and the firefighter hit his head on a store counter in the ensuing struggle. After police found the gun was registered to Caimi they went to his house and arrested him.
Caimi faces a preliminary hearing April 22 on charges of carrying an unlicensed firearm, robbery, simple assault and reckless endangerment.
