SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Authorities say Abbeville’s fire chief was ticketed for disorderly conduct after being involved in a fight in the stands during a high school football game in Spartanburg.
But the lawyer for Fire Chief Neal Dickenson said the chief was the victim in the fight. Attorney Candice Lapham says her office has 12 witnesses who will testify Dickenson did nothing wrong.
Dickenson was ticketed along with several other men watching Abbeville’s football game at Woodruff last Friday. The men were sitting on the Abbeville side.
Authorities say it took six officers to break up the fight, and a police report said all of the people involved contributed to a disorderly situation that endangered other fans.
Police didn’t say what the people were fighting about.
