LAKE BROWNWOOD, Texas — One of Lake Brownwood’s volunteer fire departments is looking for help to achieve its goal of a new firehouse.

Lake Brownwood has three volunteer firehouses the dam, north lake, and the bridge. Lake Brownwood Bridge VFD took to social media to try to raise money for a new building. The department set up a GoFundMe page on Tuesday to raise $300,000 for construction of a two-story firehouse.

The department wants to raze the current building constructed in the 1970s and build the new one on top of it on Hwy 279. “Our building is so old, every time it leaks we put rain buckets just to catch the water,” said training and safety officer Donald Batteas. “You know, we’re really worried that our next call will be to our fire station on fire.”
