ELIZABETH, La. — The town of Elizabeth’s Volunteer Fire Department walked off the job May 29, leaving their duties to two outlying fire districts. A few days later, the department decided to come back.
Fire chief Eric Fontenot said at Tuesday’s Town Council meeting that he would return to his post if he could bring all the volunteers back with him.
“We are working on an agreement, but nothing is set in stone,” Fontenot said. “We want an agreement that is better for the community and that will benefit all of our volunteer fire department.”
