JACKSON, Miss. — Authorities in Mississippi say at least 10 high school students were hospitalized and three adults were killed when two school buses collided with a tractor-trailer.
It happened Tuesday on Mississippi highway 8, about 40 miles south of the University of Mississippi at Oxford.
About 60 students were on the buses.
Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesman Jon Kalahar said one of those killed was the driver of the 18-wheeler.
He said the other two adults killed were school employees.
Ten students from Ackerman High School were transported to area hospitals.
One was taken by air to Northeast Mississippi Medical Center.
Calhoun City Fire Chief Mike Dunagin said the 18-wheeler sideswiped the first bus and hit the second one head-on.
