GAINESVILLE, Texas — A natural gas explosion at a tiny Gainesville restaurant injured five people Monday.
Three women, a young girl and a toddler were flown to Dallas’ Parkland Hospital with burns. Hospital officials reported four people in critical condition and one in serious condition Monday evening.
Fire department officials said the explosion occurred in the Mexican restaurant’s kitchen, with most of the damage done to the building’s interior.
El Taco Riendo, at 211 N. Weaver St., is two blocks from the Cooke County Courthouse.
Authorities received a 911 call about 4:30 p.m., said Gainesville police spokeswoman Belva McClinton.
Fire officials had not determined the cause of the explosion.
