CONCORD, Calif. — Five people were taken to local hospitals with neck and arm pain after they were involved in an eight-car crash about 3:16 p.m. Sunday at Monument Boulevard and Mohr Lane.
The accident occurred when a man driving a Cadillac plowed into cars stopped at a red light on eastbound Monument Boulevard, said Concord Police Officer Mark Robison, who was investigating the incident. He said he was still trying to piece together what happened because people many involved in the accident did not speak English.
One man, three women and an infant were transported to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, said Contra Costa Fire District Capt. Robert Arina.
The force of the crash pushed one car over the median and it ended up on the Iron Horse Trail. Eastbound traffic was blocked immediately after the collision, with the Cadillac nosed into some bushes along the Monument Boulevard sidewalk, between other damaged cars.
