SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — One week after the death of a Sycamore Township firefighter, his former colleagues and loved ones are set to remember him as a “wonderful friend and dedicated family man.”
Funeral services will be held Monday for Lt. James Michael Hill, a 25-year veteran of the fire service. “It is very difficult for us at this point in time, but we are managing through it,”Sycamore Township Fire Chief Perry Gerome said. “We have been talking about the facts because it was so sudden.”
Gerome says Hill passed away in his sleep Tuesday morning from what is believed to be a sudden cardiac event. While he was at home at the time, his death is considered “in the line of duty” because his death occurred within 24 hours of his last shift, according to Gerome.
