GREENSBORO, N.C. — A battalion chief welcomed and pinned a special new recruit to the fire department Thursday — his daughter.
Following in her father’s footsteps, Temeka Brown was one of 17 new firefighters added to the Greensboro Fire Department, according to DigTriad.
Chief Brown has been a firefighter for 29 years and is “extremely proud of his daughter,” accoridng to the report. Temeka was always told to do something different by her father and when she decided to become a firefighter she knew she had to be serious about it and understand what she was getting into, according to the report.
“Ever since I was a child, I have always looked up to him and wanted to do what he does,” Temeka said. “Basically, because of my hero and role model, I decided to do this.”
