TULLYTOWN, Pa. — George Redner III, 27, an EMT for Bucks County Rescue Squad and an Edgely Fire Co. volunteer was struck and killed around 10:15 Saturday morning by an Amtrak Acela train.
The incident happened near the Levittown, Pa. rail station, reported the Bucks County Courier Times.
Tullytown police Chief Daniel Doyle confirmed Redner’s death and an autopsy is expected. The Bucks County Rescue Squad, where Redner worked as EMT, posted a notice to its Facebook page.
“The Bucks County Rescue Squad and the greater Bristol area emergency services is grieving the loss of one their own. We ask your understanding and patience if our crews are not their usual upbeat selves. To our departed brother, may you find peace & light of hope in your next life.”
Edgely Fire Co. Chief Carl Pierce declined comment other than to call Redner’s death “senseless.”
“We are all saddened by today’s events. It’s time to let his family and friends grieve,” Pierce said.

Doyle said that Redner was about to start classes at the Philadelphia Fire Academy.
His father, George Jr., is a lieutenant at the Tullytown Fire Co., and his mother, Jacqueline Redner, is vice president of the Pennsbury School Board.
