MACON COUNTY, N.C. — A 9-year-old badly burned in a house fire that killed her father, who was a volunteer firefighter, was welcomed home Thursday.
Macon County Emergency Services along with local fire, police and EMS departments held a welcome-home celebration for Daphne McCoy, firefighter Brad McCoy’s daughter, WYFF4 reported.
Firefighter McCoy, his wife, Daphne, and another child were in their home when the fire broke out just after 1 a.m. on Nov. 21.
Daphne was airlifted to a burn center. She was released from the burn center Wednesday after 40 days of treatment that included six surgeries, according to the report.
McCoy was a firefighter with Nantahala Fire and Rescue Department.
