MANCHESTER, England — Firefighters helped detain a man suspected of robbing a post office at gun-point.
They stepped in when police arrested the suspect on New Hays Lane, in Bolton, moments after a raid at nearby Bradshaw Post Office.
A man with a fake shotgun made threats to staff but fled empty-handed at 4:30pm yesterday.
Crews on a passing fire engine helped police chased down a suspect, who was later arrested on suspicion of robbery.
Ian Bailey, of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, said: It is another indication of the public-spirited nature of our firefighters when they see something that needs doing, they act and they act quickly.
