Firefighters rescue 5 in Calif. 6-car crash

Firefighters had to extricate 1 critically injured person from car, treated 4 other people with minor injuries

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. — One person was critically injured after a traffic collision Saturday evening near Mission San Juan Capistrano.

The Orange County Fire Authority around 6:20 p.m. responded to the six-car crash at Ortega Highway and Camino Capistrano, where one passenger was trapped inside the wreckage. Firefighters cut the person out of the vehicle and treated four people with minor injuries, said Capt. Marc Stone.

One person with critical injuries was taken to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, Stone said.
