Light rail cars, SUV collide in San Francisco; 6 injured

The Associated Press

SAN FRANCISCO — Another light rail accident along San Francisco’s transportation system is delaying commuters on the city’s busy Market Street.

Officials say six people were injured in the crash, which involved two historic San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency street cars and an SUV at around 5:45 p.m. Monday.

The accident on the system’s F line comes after 47 people were hurt in a July 18 crash involving two Muni trains from two other light rail lines.

None of Monday’s injuries appeared serious, but Muni spokesman Judson True says the driver of one of the trains was taken to the hospital for treatment of what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Muni was transporting passengers in shuttle buses around the damaged trains.
