QUINCY, Mass. — Police have arrested a woman and her son after a man was allegedly thrown out of a second-story window during a fight over money.
The 43-year-old man told police he was thrown head-first out the window of the room he rented at 38 Elm St. by his landlord’s son and the son’s friends after an argument over whether he owed $100 rent.
Quincy firefighters aboard an engine were returning from a call at about 7 p.m. Friday when they saw the man falling from the window.
The man was conscious and coherent when firefighters reached him, fire Capt. Patrick Dee said. He was taken to Boston Medical Center.
Quincy police arrested Kara Ferris, 34, who rented the room to the man for $100 a week, and her 16-year-old son, whom police did not name because he is a juvenile. Police are looking for Brian Lally, 17, of 99 Ruggles St., Quincy, and two others in connection with the case.
Ferris and her son are charged with attempted murder, assault and battery to collect a loan, breaking and entering during the day for a felony and two counts of destruction of property, a door. They were scheduled to be arraigned today in Quincy District Court.
The man said Ferris claimed he had not paid her the weekly rent. He told police that Ferris owed him money.
Ferris threatened to have her 16-year-old son and his friends attack the man to get the rent money, the victim told police. He said he locked himself in his room, but that Ferris’ son and his friends kicked in the door and threw him out the window. Firefighters reported seeing two males run from the scene.
