PASADENA, Md. — Authorities in Anne Arundel County say a 10-year-old girl has been rescued after a fall down a 30-foot well in Pasadena.

Anne Arundel County Fire Division Chief Keith Swindle says the girl fell down the well Monday afternoon and was rescued about half an hour later.

Capt. Michael Pfaltzgraff says it appears deteriorated plywood covering the hole collapsed under the girl. He says the hole is about three feet in diameter, wide enough for a firefighter to be lowered to the bottom. Pfaltzgraff says a rescuer attached a securing device to the girl and they were lifted to the surface together.

Officials say the girl was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore with injuries that were not considered life threatening, including hypothermia.
