DHS announces round 8 of Fire Prevention and Safety Grant awards

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today the eighth round of Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 Fire Prevention and Safety Grants, awarding two grants totaling $232,000 to fire departments within the United States.

The primary goal of the Fire Prevention and Safety Grants (FP&S) is to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters from fire and related hazards by targeting high-risk populations and mitigate high incidences of death and injury. In fiscal year 2005, Congress reauthorized funding for FP&S and expanded the eligible uses of funds to include Firefighter Safety Research and Development.
