WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — FM Global Insurance presented West Lafayette with a $2,000 grant to fund the purchase of iPads for the fire department. The check presentation was made Tuesday during the city’s Board of Works meeting.

The iPads, which will be on each fire truck, will allow firefighters to review schematics for specific buildings before arriving during an emergency run. These schematics will orientate firefighters to the building’s layout, any preplanned firefighting tactics and where people might be inside the building, as well as where firefighters can find the nearest water source.

This information previously was kept in binders on each truck, Fire Chief Tim Heath said last month.
