GARFIELD, N.J. — The Garfield Fire Department received a more than $100,000 Assistance to Firefighters Grant that will help the department purchase equipment.
Garfield received a $103,697 Department of Homeland Security Federal Firefighter Investment Response Enhancement (FIRE) Assistance to Firefighters Grant, said U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. (D-NJ-09), chair of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus.
The grant will help the fire department purchase a new non-mobile compressor fill station for filling self-contained breathing apparatuses along with a rescue bailout system consisting of harnesses, rope and descending equipment for 100 firefighters.
