SAFER Hiring Grant Application Correction Needed

Washington, DC — A correction has been made to the Hiring Grant application for FY 2012 SAFER Grants, specifically to Question 4B in the Request Details section. The language for the question was changed inadvertently during online system testing, but the change was not detected until this week. Below is the correction to the online application.

ORIGINAL VERSION, Request Details, Question 4B: With the additional restored staffing requested in this application, what percentage of time do you anticipate that your organization will meet the NFPA requirements detailed in the table above?

CORRECTED VERSION, Request Details, Question 4B: With the additional or restored staffing requested in this application, and given the number of structure fires indicated in the “Department Call Volume” box of your application, what will be the average actual staffing level on your first arriving engine company or vehicle capable of initiating suppressing activities? (Up to 1 decimal e.g., 2.5).

ACTIONS YOU NEED TO TAKE
All SAFER Hiring Grant applications that are in progress or already submitted must change their answers to Question 4B to reflect the revised language.

  • Hiring Grant Applications in Progress. If your application is still in progress, the online system will automatically mark your application as being “Incomplete.” This action will require you to correct the answer to Question 4B before it can be submitted. As soon as possible you should open your application, revise your answer to the question, and save your application. It will then be marked once again as being “in progress.” Remember that you must complete and submit your application before the deadline of Friday, August 10, 5 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
  • Hiring Grant Applications Already Submitted. Hiring Grant applicants who have submitted their applications already will have their applications released back to them in the online grant application system. As soon as possible, you should open your submitted application and change your answer to Question 4B. Then you must Save and Resubmit your completed application no later than the application deadline of Friday, August 10, 5 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
