LONDONBERRY, N.H. — Londonderry’s fire chief says confusion over the location of a fire delayed the arrival of firefighters from neighboring departments.

Fire Chief Kevin MacCaffrie said Windham and Pelham firefighters were sent to the wrong Spring Road on Sunday.

There are three Spring roads in town.

MacCaffrie said officials are working to assign new addresses to about 50 roads in town to avoid such problems.

The Union Leader said the fire that destroyed the home appears to have started about 9 a.m. on a living room couch.

Homeowner Robert Simmons suffered second-degree burns to his hands and wrists trying to put out the fire.

The house was ablaze when firefighters arrived.
