Dispatch glitches show wrong locations for DC fire and EMS

New hardware has shown some units in the wrong locations; officials are working to fix the issue, which is part of a communication overhaul

WASHINGTON — Recently installed hardware has been showing wrong locations for fire trucks and ambulances, and officials are working to fix the computer glitch.

Teddy Kavaleri, chief information officer at the Office of United Communications, told NBC Washington that the issues have been identified and they are working through them.

“There was a glitch where some of these units were being misreported on their locations,” he said. “Well as soon as we identified that, we came up with a workaround, so we’re working through it. And those issues should be almost eliminated if they haven’t been eliminated.”

He said that because it is a major overhaul, issues are expected.
