Tait Sees Strong Interest in Their P25 Conventional, Trunked and Simulcast Solution

Baltimore, MD Tait Radio Communications attends this year’s APCO conference looking to continue growth and expand its presence in North America. “Since the last APCO show in Orlando, we’ve seen a year with a number of significant awards for P25 systems. Arguably, we are the fastest growing P25 systems player in the US and Canada,” says Bill Fredrickson, president of Tait North America.

“The needs of first responders and American public safety personnel have been foremost in the minds of our R&D team for many years. We’re seeing the fruits of their labor now with strong sales and a solution offering that fits the needs of public safety agencies. Tait has enjoyed significant growth this past year building on our considerable strengths that include high quality, highly reliable terminals; high performance base stations/repeaters and versatile configuration software and field-proven systems expertise,” adds Fredrickson.

From a solutions point of view, customers can choose from Tait conventional, trunked, or simulcast infrastructure options. The ability to transition from analog to digital P25 solutions and leverage current RF assets remains a popular requirement.

“We do not attempt to be all things to all people. We select the applications where the Tait solution has the best fit with customer needs and we tailor the solution precisely to address the needs of public safety organizations. We’re finding many agencies seeking an affordable conventional, trunked or simulcast P25 network alternative that are looking to Tait for solutions. With terminals that have an enviable reputation for being tough and efficiency-increasing tools such as OTAR and easy-to-use configuration/diagnostics software (PIC), we anticipate continued growth ahead. Part of our success has come from listening to agencies and tailoring the solution to customer needs as opposed to prescribing what the solution should be,” says Fredrickson.

For example, Tait has seen considerable interest in hybrid solutions that embrace elements of the proven and affordable conventional analog solution with the latest digital P25 technology. Tait has simulcast projects underway where some of the channels are P25 simulcast and some are conventional analog. The analog stations are upgradeable to P25 at a later date should the agency see the need for additional digital P25 capacity.

It’s not just North America where these P25 solutions are proving popular. Worldwide, Tait has installed and supported systems from Sao Paulo, Brazil to Sydney, Australia.
