Streamlight Low-Profile Survivor Now Rated for Zone Use

Redesigned Right-Angle Torch is ATEX and IECEX Safety-Rated

EAGLEVILLE, PA — Streamlight® Inc., a leading manufacturer of high-performance torches for fire and rescue professionals, announced that its updated Survivor® right-angle personal torch now features ATEX and IECEx safety ratings for use in Zone 0 environments. The new model was recently redesigned with a new, compact bezel, and also includes two plugs that allow users to customize the torch’s beam with smoke-cutting lighting options.

“The updated Survivor features a new, low-profile bezel that helps prevents snagging while putting on gear and equipment,” said Streamlight Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Michael F. Dineen. “And with its ATEX and IECEx safety ratings, firefighters also can be assured that the Survivor will operate safely in environments where there is high potential for explosive hazards.”

The new Survivor also features other changes in response to user feedback, including a redesigned attachment clip and the addition of a reinforced D-ring, to ensure the torch consistently hangs forward. It also offers two plug choices, both of which reduce peripheral light when inserted into the torch’s optic. Use of the Amber Smoke Cutter® Plug also reduces the potential for glare in smoke conditions, while giving off a more yellow light that is easier on the eyes. The Black Smoke Cutter® Plug provides a more concentrated beam appearance.

The updated torch features the latest in C4® LED technology for extreme brightness, and offers microprocessor-controlled high and low intensity, emergency flash, and moonlight modes. On high, the torch delivers 175 lumens and 41,000 candela. The torch’s custom optic produces a narrow beam, ideal for cutting through smoke, fog and mist, while also providing optimum peripheral illumination to aid in navigation.

The Survivor operates on a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery, which can be recharged up to 1,500 times. The torch also permits firefighters to insert a spare pack of four “AA” alkaline batteries to reduce the likelihood of being caught in the dark with a spent battery.

Operating run times for the Lithium Ion battery range from 3.5 hours on High to 10 hours on Low, with 5 hours on the flash setting and 15 continuous days in moonlight mode. The torch is available with AC and DC one-hour fast chargers, with full charge indicators designed specifically for AC or DC power sources. An alkaline model is available as well.

The torch’s reinforced, built-in attachment D-ring and updated spring-loaded clip offer superior retention, conveniently latching to belts and harnesses. Its super-tough nylon housing provides exceptional durability.

All openings are O-ring sealed to resist moisture, including the torch’s unbreakable polycarbonate lens with silicone anti-scratch coating, assembled in a heavy-duty bezel. The torch has an IP66-rated design for water resistance and is impact resistance-tested to 2 meters.

The updated Survivor is available in international safety orange. The MSRP for the ATEX Survivor ranges from $199.00 to $279.00 depending on the model, with the alkaline version available at an MSRP of $115.00.
