YAKIMA, Wash. — A single-engine plane has crashed in Washington state with three people aboard, and a young girl is the only survivor.
Authorities say a man and a boy were killed in the crash Sunday afternoon near the Tieton Air Strip just east of Rimrock Lake in Yakima County. Naches Assistant Fire Chief Alan Baird says the girl was hospitalized but was conscious. He guessed that she is about 10 years old.
Baird said the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified.
Rimrock Lake is about 40 miles west of Yakima and roughly 15 miles east of White Pass. In October 2007, a plane crash east of White Pass killed nine skydivers and the pilot.
