9 hurt as Chicago cars collide

CHICAGO — Nine people were hurt, three critically, when four cars collided Thursday on North Lake Shore Drive, just south of Chicago Avenue.

The crash occurred about 2:30 p.m. and shut down all northbound lanes, said Quention Curtis, a Fire Department spokesman. Lanes were reopened at 3:28 p.m., police spokesman Michael Fitzpatrick said.

Two people were taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, and one was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, officials said. Six other people were treated at the scene.
