INDIANAPOLIS — Truck manufacturer E-One had three new announcements for FDIC visitors to their booth at Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium.

Cummins Certification
The first announcement was their successful certification from Cummins Power South, LLC, for completing all the necessary requirements for engine installation. They’ve also been approved to use the 2010 EPA-compliant ISC/ISL engines.

E-One is the first manufacturer to announce this certification. They’ve been working in partnership with Cummins for two years to make sure that they would meet installation requirements.

“Cummins has a great long-term working relationship with E-One, and E-One has a great Engineering Team, so completing the 2010 installation was really business as usual,” said Lee Trexler, Director of OEM Sales and Engineering for Cummins Power South, LLC. “E-One was able to easily implement the Cummins requirements.”

All E-One custom chassis will now include the Cummins ISC/ICL engines up to 450 horsepower.

New Cab Interior
E-One was also presenting their new cab interior — designed to stand up to the most rigorous, intense use. FDIC attendees were invited to take a stroll through the rugged new cab.

There are a number of features that make the new interior ready for “severe” duty. They include an aluminum Zolatone-painted center dash, an officer side dash, as well as “A” post covers with wiring access through the hinged service panel on the center dash. The engine cover is a .125-inch WearTrak with .375 inches of foam insulation.

The new cabs also feature a recessed MDT provision, an MDT swivel post-type mount for officer side of the engine cover, an officer glove box with a hinged door, and door panels that are made of 14-gauge brushed steel or with aluminum plate to match the interior.

“This is made for departments that are tougher on their trucks,” Amanda Davis, E-One’s marketing and communications manager, said.

Finalists for Truck Give-Away
The finalists in this year’s Fire Truck Give-Away were the third announcement from E-One. This is the second straight year that E-One has hosted a competition to give departments throughout the U.S. a chance to win a brand new Tradition ES apparatus. Fire departments are invited to submit stories about their department — and why they deserve, or need, a new truck. Finalists hailed from all corners of the nation, from the Hines Volunteer Fire Department in Oregon to the Owens Cross Road Volunteer Department in Alabama.

“We were again moved by the compelling nature of the stories and the immense need for equipment and apparatus in the fire service,” Peter Guile, president of E-One, said.

The seven finalists’ entries can be found on www.e-one.com and votes are being accepted until August 27 for the best, and most deserving, entry. The winner will be announced during the 2010 International Association of Fire Chiefs’ Fire-Rescue International conference in Chicago.

Headquartered in Ocala, Florida, E-One is a leading manufacturer of first responder vehicles. They can be found on the Web at www.e-one.com.
