WARWICKSHIRE, England — Fire chiefs spent nearly one million pounds on two vehicles that are said to be too big for local roads.
The state-of-the-art fire engines cost the Warwickshire brigade 900,000 pounds. But firefighters have complained that the 22-ton trucks are difficult to drive and too big for country lanes.
A union rep said: “The machines are flavour of the month but nobody who has used them knows why.”
But Assistant Chief Fire Officer Jim Onions said they will prove effective.
