Scott Safety Unveils New Products at FDIC

Sponsored by

Monroe, N.C. – This week at FDIC, Scott Safety will showcase a new generation of products, including the Air-Pak X3 SCBA, the AV-3000 HT Facepiece and the EPIC 3 Voice Amplifier. These products are built on proven technology and designs trusted by firefighters and first responders, with enhanced comfort, durability and fireground communications features. All will be featured in booth #2223 at FDIC.

As an industry leader in respiratory protection, thermal imaging, breathing air compressors and gas detection technologies, Scott Safety listened closely to customers’ needs to create enhancements that benefit first responders. “Firefighters must be able to do their job with full confidence in the equipment, so durability and reliability remain core to our product design,” said Jeff Emery, Marketing Manager Fire Service, “But we also saw the NFPA changes as an opportunity to introduce new technology advances in fireground communications, safety, and comfort.”

The new Air-Pak X3 Platform builds upon Scott Safety’s decades of experience as the industry leading, most reliable and durable SCBA. The easy-to-service X3 Platform, built for comfort, features an innovative weight distribution system, improved pneumatics and wire management, along with the durability and safety-feature redundancy for which the Air-Pak is known. The electronics are forward-compatible for blue-tooth technology, radio compatibility and Air-Pak status recognition. The Scott SCBA remains the only SCBA on the market that meets the stringent requirements to be labeled “Made in the USA.”

The new AV-3000 HT Facepiece features optimized voicemitter locations that accommodate the EPIC 3 family of voice amplifiers. The upgraded open-bracket has a robust attachment with right- or left-side mounting options and the acoustically optimized ducts to improve voice intelligibility with or without amplifier. The AV-3000HT includes the proven AV-3000 SureSeal faceseal with high-visibility inhalation valves that allow for easy inspection. The comfort-fitted design of the facepiece, the high-temperature polycarbonate lens and high temperature nylon bezel give wearers added comfort and durability. With the Scott pioneered top-down convertibility (TDC), the new AV-3000HT reduces fit testing, inventory cost and simplifies training for overall lower cost of ownership.

Firefighters can now communicate with clarity over greater distances and for longer periods of time. The EPIC 3 Voice Amplifier optimizes communications through its innovative, angled speaker system designed to project the user’s voice louder and more clearly than current systems on the market. The automatic shut-off and 50 hour battery life extends usage time. The EPIC 3 Voice Amplifier integrates with the AV-3000 HT and existing AV-2000 facepieces and can be upgraded with other EPIC 3 units such as Radio Interface and Talk-Around systems. EPIC 3 exceeds the Speech Transmission Index (STI) requirements in NFPA 1981 and offers unmatched durability.

The suite of Scott Safety’s new NFPA 2013-compliant products will be on display at the 2013 FDIC booth. The theme of this year’s booth asks firefighters “Are you ready?” for the upcoming changes to the NFPA 1981 and 1982 standards. As a company, Scott Safety has prepared the industry with their suite of new products and an informative microsite dedicated to the explanation of the standards changes, featuring a pre-recorded webinar that provides an overview of the changes in less than six minutes. The address for the microsite is www.scott2013firefighter.com.
