LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — It’s a good thing Jack Hancock Senior’s son is a firefighter.

In August of last year Jack Hancock Junior said his dad felt ill. “My mom had sent me a text saying that dad wasn’t feeling good and asked me to come over.” Hancock Senior said the last thing he remembers is his son coming over to the house.

“He showed up and he come in there and he was talking to me and he said if you’re thirsty let’s go get a drink of water. We go in there to the bar, I get a drink. From there on it was lights out.” Suddenly, Jack Hancock Junior said he jumped into action putting his years of first responder training into use, helping his dad during a heart attack. “I started CPR. I don’t know remember how much CPR I did. Whenever the first Vilonia units arrived with an AED, we shocked him 6 times.”
