SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The names of three San Bernardino County firefighters who died in the line of duty or due to work-related illnesses have been added to a Sacramento memorial recognizing fallen firefighters throughout the state.

Fire Engineer Eddie Keen, Capt. Vance Tomaselli and Capt. Vance Caswell were among the 82 names added to the California Fire Foundation’s Fallen Firefighter Memorial on Saturday, county fire officials said.

Keen, who worked for the San Bernardino County Fire Department more than 30 years, died July 14, 2008 due to a work-related illness.

Tomaselli, who served as a firefighter in Angelus Oaks for 28 years, suffered a stroke while heading to a house fire Feb. 16, 2008.

Caswell worked for the Victorville Fire Department for 28 years. He died of cancer Aug. 1, 2005. Fire officials said the illness was related to the job, and he began noticing symptoms while battling the 2003 Old Fire.
