EMMITSBURG, MD (May 2, 2012) The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) and Wilbert Funeral Services, Incorporated have introduced a new program that will help ease the burden of making funeral arrangements for the survivors of fallen firefighters while honoring the sacrifices their loved one made for the community. Through the Commemorating First Responders Program, families of firefighters who died in the line of duty can receive a burial vault or cremation urn and urn vault at no cost.

“Wilbert is honored to partner with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to formally offer our services to the families of the fallen,” said Terrence P. Whitlock, executive vice president of Wilbert. “We wish to express our grateful appreciation for the sacrifices these brave men and women were willing to make for their communities.”

Through this program, families who choose a ground burial can receive a Wilbert Stainless Steel Triune Burial Vault and a graveside service, if permitted by the cemetery. For those families interested in cremation, a choice of four urns is available. If the family intends to bury the cremated remains, a Wilbert Stainless Steel Triune Urn Vault will be provided as well as graveside service, if permitted.

“As part of the Foundation’s mission we want to ensure that the families of the fallen are being cared for and their needs are the priority,” said Chief Ronald J. Siarnicki, executive director of the NFFF. “Through this program we can shoulder one more responsibility for the loved ones of the fallen and help them through their devastating loss.”
