By FireRescue1 Staff

HAUGHTON, La. — A Louisiana firefighter died in March after responding to a vehicle crash, according to a USFA LODD report released last week.

The Bossier Parish Fire District 1 Department was called later in the night to the residence of firefighter Alan M. Hermel, 62, and found him with limited mobility and unable to speak.

The responding crew initiated care and transported Firefighter Hermel to a local hospital where he was diagnosed as having suffered an inter-cranial bleed.

After two surgeries, he succumbed to his injuries March 3.

The USFA was notified Wednesday of the death.
