Almost all structural firefighting coats purchased today come with the drag rescue device, or DRD, that acts as a make shift rescue harness for a firefighter rescue. Whenever our gear is sent out for cleaning, the DRD is taken apart for inspection and then put back together inside the jacket.
Sometimes the DRD is not packed properly and is returned incomplete. Inspect your gear to ensure that the DRD or other harnesses like in the pants are re-installed correctly after cleaning.
