FireRescue1 Launches First Social-Buying Deals Site for Firefighters

http://deals.firerescue1.com/, a leading online resource for the firefighting community, announced the launch of FireRescue1 Deals, the first ever group-buying program that gives firefighters and departments access to significant discounts on firefighting products, services and events.

Similar in concept to popular programs like Groupon or LivingSocial, FireRescue1 Deals is the first site to adapt the social-buying concept specifically for a public safety audience. With fire department budgets increasingly affected by a down economy, FireRescue1 Deals is designed to provide another option for purchasing high-quality firefighting equipment, services, and training event registrations at a steep, negotiated discount.

The program also gives companies targeting the fire service a new channel for selling goods and acquiring new customers in a fragmented market. FireRescue1 Deals emails reach a registered member distribution of almost 200,000, and each deal is also promoted to FireRescue1’s Facebook community of more than 190,000 fans, providing an unmatched level of exposure to potential customers.

The first FireRescue1 Deal debuted in late-July, and the program will be featuring a minimum of one deal each week at a discounted rate of between 25 and 75 percent off. So far, deals have included everything from firefighting boots and training DVDs to grant-writing services.

FireRescue1 Deals operates similarly to other daily deals sites in that, once subscribed, members are eligible to purchase any offer on the site and can easily share the deal with friends. Every few days, a new deal is featured and emailed out to subscribers, with an average duration of three days apiece. After making a purchase, subscribers receive a receipt and a unique voucher via email which is used to redeem the purchased deal.
