Helicopter Air Show in Los Angeles this Saturday

The LAFD warmly welcomes you to join the men and women of the Los Angeles Fire Department at the nation’s premier (and yes, free!) public safety helicopter air show from 9 AM to 4 PM on Saturday, June 24, 2006 in Los Angeles.

This family event will be held at the Hansen Dam Recreation Area in the San Fernando Valley community of Lakeview Terrace.

And yes, you heard it right - admission is FREE!

Guests of all ages are invited to enjoy one of the largest presentations of helicopters from local, regional, state and federal/military units with static display, flight demo’s and mission briefings.

Attending agencies will include police, fire, military, media and commercial transport firms. Also invited are many well-known broadcast pilots from local radio and television.

Los Angeles Helicopters, Inc. will offer (for a nominal charge) helicopter rides from the site offering you a bird’s eye view of the San Fernando Valley and in-flight examples of the unique capabilities of helicopters in community safety.

But wait, there’s more! Along with the Air Show, at the same time and location...

“First Promise” Family Preparedness Fair:
In conjunction with local, regional, State and Federal Emergency Management professionals, the Preparedness Fair features vendors and public resources with products, services and information to help families and communities prepare for, respond to and recover from natural disasters and emergencies. Your admission to the Fair is (you guessed it), Free!

“Rollin’ to the Rescue” Vehicle Show:
You are also invited to explore without charge, one of the West Coasts’ largest displays of vintage fire, police and emergency service vehicles. This element of the event is hosted by members of the Crown Firecoach Enthusiasts, California Professional Car Society and Ortiz Vintage Vehicles. You’ll want to arrive at the event early to see the annual ‘Code 3' caravan arrival and vehicle setup.

Admission to the “Rollin’ to the Rescue” Vehicle Show is also free, with vendors offering fire service and emergency related collectibles for sale.

“Code 3" Career Fair:
Recruiters and information specialists will be on hand to discuss exciting career opportunities in community service, law enforcement and the military. Guests can get information on training opportunities, current openings and entrance requirements.

As most of you know, talk radio KFI-AM640 is teaming up with the American Heroes Air Show again this year. KFI host Captain Dale Dye, their ‘military guy’ will be performing MC duty. For those who get this message on Father’s Day, we invite you to tune into Captain Dye’s radio show on Sunday night between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM when he’ll be talking with several of the pilots and crew scheduled to attend the American Heroes Air Show. The crews to be interviewed are from:

USMC HMM 163 “Ridge Runners” based at MCAS Miramar, scheduled to attend with CH -46E.

USAF 512th RQS Combat Search and Rescue, scheduled to attend with an HH 60G PaveHawk.
