AUBURN, Wash. — Four thermal imaging cameras were donated in memory of a young volunteer firefighter, who was the daughter of a fire chief.
Voice of the Valley reported that the family of volunteer firefighter Andrea Manske, 23, who died in a 2011 car crash, donated the thermal imaging cameras to Mountain View Fire and Rescue. The family also donated a Smart Board for training new firefighters.
“Although we lost volunteer recruit firefighter Andrea Manske almost six years ago, she is still helping keep the public safe with much-needed equipment,” fire officials said.
The Manske family said Andrea always put others first and had a heart of gold.
“She was very dedicated to succeeding in her professional life,” the family said. “She had a dream of becoming a firefighter, as her father was a fire chief himself … Andrea would be so proud to know that these devices are going to be used by others who have the same commitment and dream of becoming courageous firefighters.”
