SYLVESTER, GA – Firefighters in Worth County are excited about a new piece of equipment they now have to put out fires. They hope the TurboDraft will save them time and homeowners money.
Firefighters in rural areas will be able to access water straight from ponds, streams even swimming pools instead of pumping water from dry hydrants that are limited and spread out in the county.
When responding to a fire, every minute is critical for a firefighter, but in Worth County firefighters have a few challenges. Not only do firefighters have limited access to water, they also have a lot of land to cover, “You can drive from the north part of the county to the south part, and it will take you right at 45 minutes to an hour,” said Jason Brooks, Worth Fire Chief.
