Kan. firefighter crashes fire truck into tree after passing out

COLUMBUS, Kan. — A firefighter suffered a medical emergency Sunday and crashed a fire truck into a tree.

According to a Facebook post, the Columbus Fire Rescue firefighter was on his way to a call about an active fire alarm when he passed out due to a medical emergency, drove off the road and crashed into a tree.

“Please keep our driver in your prayers as he was rushed to the hospital for treatment,” the department said. “Thankfully no other injuries were reported.”

The crash is currently under investigation, and the firefighter is under observation until the cause of the medical emergency can be determined, according to FourstatesHomepage.com.
