GEORGE, Wash. — The body of a King County firefighter missing since last weekend was found Saturday near the Wild Horse Monument, nine miles west of George.
A man scouting for deer found the body of Ken Ward, around 4:30 p.m., Grant County Sheriff’s officials announced Saturday in a news release.
The victim was a short distance from his vehicle, which was parked near the monument. There is no indication of foul play, the news release said.
Tim Perciful, spokesman for Mountain View Fire & Rescue said Ward, 43, lived in Renton and was very physically fit.
Ward had apparently met a friend in Roslyn and was heading to Spokane, where his aunt lives, Perciful said.
The body is in the care of Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison, whose staff will do an autopsy to determine the cause of death, the news release said.
