MISSOULA, Mt. — A Missoula firefighter was injured Sunday morning when he fell from a ladder while fighting a fire in a automotive shop.

City fire officials said the firefighter, whose name was not released, was taken to St. Patrick Hospital, where he remained overnight for observation. His injuries — sustained when he fell 15 feet onto scrap iron and other metal debris — are non-life threatening, officials said.

Missoula city and rural departments were dispatched at about 10 a.m. to the corner of Benton and Schilling streets, where they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the eaves and front overhead doors of a large metal automotive-type shop.
