PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Two people, including a firefighter, were hurt at a garage fire near Oregon and Indiana roads in Perrysburg Township Monday night, authorities said.

A township resident suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. The firefighter suffered a twisted ankle and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, according to the township fire department.

Fire crews responding to a report of a house fire at 28855 Starlight Rd. arrived about 8:15 p.m. to find “the whole garage was up in flames,” Township Fire Chief Michael Dimick said.

Firefighters had the blaze under control by 11 p.m. but not before the garage had burned out, the chief said.

Fire damage was estimated at $55,000, including water damage to the house. The cause of the fire was under investigation, the fire chief said.
