NEWTON COUNTY, Miss. — A volunteer fire chief was killed Saturday night in a car crash while responding to a wreck.
WTOK reported that Greenfield (Miss.) Volunteer Fire Chief Mickey Yates’ pickup truck collided with a sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle, which then overturned and ejected Chief Yates from the truck.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol said the deputy did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.
